Nixon, who infamously sweat his way to a loss in his first debate with JFK in 1960 swore to never let it happen again. To avoid a repeat performance at his second debate, his team arrived early to lower the temperature for the studio down to about 30 degrees. They later compromised on a more reasonable setting.
